On Tuesday, July 15th, Liz Ratchford continued with the streetscape project by having 17 teenagers, some pre-teens and a few senior citizens as unpayed workers, plant flowers: in the parking lot across from Rays; in planters in front of businesses along College Ave; weed and mulch on the hill along Kemmerer Ave, and some work at the Christy Mathewson Park. It was a warm day, but no complaints from the young men and women who managed to try and keep up with Liz's pace. If you aren't aware, she is a worker. Liz supplied lunch for all of the workers. It is fun and healthy for anyone if they can volunteer for these projects, and the Borough is really looking nice.
Can you imagine how upset the people who work in the Credit Union were on Friday Morning when they saw the flowers from the planters up-rooted and thrown all over. WHAT A MESS. Liz spoke to the President of the Credit Union and he will let us keep the planters in front of the building. Overfield Police did call the President and talked on our behalf. It is really sad to see that some individuals have a need for this kind of vandalism.

Many thanks to the kind and interested residents of the Borough who volunteer and repaired the damages to the bridge at the park, caused by vandalism. The park was impressive to the visitors who attended the basketball tournaments, for junior high students, and the parties at the pavilion. It is nice to be able to walk through a clean park and see how well people pick up their own garbage after using the area.
