About Us

The Factoryville Shade Tree Commission is an all volunteer group of Factoryville citizens that are involved with the care and expansion of the urban forest of our community.

We are always looking for more volunteers.  If you can help with our efforts in any way, please join us.

It is with great sadness that we learn of the passing of Mr. Ed Saar. Ed volunteered for the Shade Tree Commission for the last several years, he would gladly dig holes, deliver mulch, help with park work, it is because of great volunteers like this we have beautiful trees and parks.

We will miss you Mr. Saar!

Our Programs

The work of the Factoryville Shade Tree Commission is only possible because of the dedicated civic organizations of Factoryville:

The Factoryville Men's Civic League

The Factoryville Women's Civic League

The Christy Mathewson Little League

These dedicated volunteers have been the heart of the transformation of our town and park.
Please support them and the work they do for Factoryville.

The Factoryville Shade Tree Commission has finished ten community grants.  We have received funding from DEP, The Pennsylvania Forestry Council, Northern Tier, Wyoming County located in Towanda, and The Forestry Service.
Our projects are only possible with the assistance of the funding provided by the Northeast Pennsylvania Urban and Community Forestry Program. The Christy Mathewson Park Riparian Project at Christy Mathewson Park was a large community grants received because of grant funding made possible by Congressman Sherwood.

Sustaining the Trees of Factoryville Grant Project is underway, Jon Brown, certified arborist recently pruned some trees along the borough streets and removed several hazardous trees:

Come and visit the park and see all of the new trees and landscaping.
Supported by:  The Northeastern PA Urban Forestry Program
The project was made possible through:
