FACTORYVILLE SHADE TREE COMMISSION MEETINGS:

The next meeting of The Factoryville Shade Tree Commission will be
Friday, September 3, 2010 at 2 p.m.
Factoryville Borough Hall Building,
161 College Avenue, Factoryville.

This will be our meeting for August, due to vacations of our commission members the meeting date had to be changed to one week earlier.

Agenda will include the following:
1) Discussion of permit applications for any tree pruning, removals, or planting along the right of ways of Factoryville Borough.

2) Begin planning for Fall Tree Plantings.

3) Discuss the ongoing tree assessments for all borough streets. If you have a tree you are concerned about along the streets of Factoryville please contact the Shade Tree Commission at 945-1014.

Tree watering information for the week of August 1st - August 8th, 2010:

We got 0.4" of rain last week, please give each new tree 12 gallons of water.

We are still several inches below normal rainfall for the spring and summer, the rain we do get evaporates quickly... trees really need to be watered weekly. Many of the new trees are showing signs of stress and we have had several trees die. Please give each new tree 20 gallons of water this week.

It has been a really dry, hot spring and summer. If you have not been watering your trees this spring and summer, we are down several inches of rain. Please water your new trees.

If you would like a Gator Bag watering system for your new trees please contact the Shade Tree Commission at 945-1014 and we can get you the bags and show you how to use them to water your new trees.

Watering these new trees is needed and the best thing you can do to make sure the trees survive the transplant shock.

New trees need to be watered weekly for the first two years from spring until late fall unless we get an inch of rain.
