The Factoryville Women's Civic League has presented their Person of the Year Award to Chief Russ Gow of the Factoryville Fire Company.

The award is presented each year in recognition of "selfless service to the community." The award was given at the annual Women's Civic League Christmas party held at Keystone College in LaPlume on Friday, December 11.

Bre Reynolds, president of the Factoryville Women's Civic League presented the award to Mr. Gow. Mr. Gow serves as chief of the Factoryville Fire Company, Station 9. The fire company responds to an average of 150 fire and rescue calls and 500 ambulance calls a year.

Chief Gow expressed gratitude for the award and noted how well civic organizations in Factoryville worked together on projects such as Christy Mathewson Days. The Person of the Year award was established by the League in 2000 to honor a citizen of our community who exemplifies outstanding community service.
