Factoryville Women's Civic League

The Factoryville Women's Civic League has presented their Person of the Year Award to Chief Russ Gow of the Factoryville Fire Company.The award is presented each year in recognition of "selfless service to the community." The award was given at the annual Women's Civic League Christmas party held at Keystone College in LaPlume on Friday, December 11. Bre Reynolds, president of the Factoryville Women's Civic League presented the award to Mr. Gow. Mr. Gow serves as chief of the Factoryville Fire Company, Station 9. The fire company responds to an average of 150 fire and rescue calls and 500 ambulance calls a year. Chief Gow expressed gratitude for the award and noted how well civic organizations in Factoryville worked together on projects such as Christy Mathewson Days. The Person of the Year award was established by the League in 2000 to honor a citizen of our community who exemplifies outstanding community service.
FWCL Meetings:The next meeting of The Factoryville Women's Civic League will be Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at 7:30 pm at the Mathewson Park Apartments, 6 Maple Street Factoryville. Regular monthly meetings are held from September to May in the community room on the 1st floor. New members always welcome come and find out what our group is all about and what community service activities we are planning.
